Simi Scoop – Aug. 14th-17th | School is in session
Your guide to live music, local events, and where to be this weekend in Simi.

Good morning, Simi Valley!
And just like that, the unofficial end of summer is here, school is back in session today for our SVUSD students, teachers, administrators, and faculty! And with it comes drop-off traffic. If your morning route takes you near a school at drop-off time, consider another route or adding a few minutes to your drive. And to my fellow parents taking children/teens to school, let’s be kind, curteous, and safe during our school drop offs and pick ups.
FYI: Winners have been drawn and notified for the Slice House gift cards raffle, thanks to all who participated!
In today’s Simi Scoop:
Good eatin’ on the east side
Sock Hop till ya drop
No Jimmy Page, but you can still get the Led out
And much more…!
Let’s jump in.

SPONSORED BY REENVISION MEDSPA

Struggling to reach your summer body goals or just want an extra boost to feel your best? Traditional diet and exercise can be slow to show results, leaving you frustrated and unmotivated. That’s where our Skinny Shots come in. Featuring GLP-1, GLP-2, or GLP-3, these treatments are designed to help jumpstart your weight management journey so you can see and feel the difference faster.
So, what’s GLP-1? In simple terms, it’s a natural hormone that helps control blood sugar and appetite. It helps slow down digestion so you feel fuller longer, and curb cravings. Think of it as your body’s built-in “fullness” signal.
And this August, they’re only $149 each (with a minimum purchase of 6) at ReEnvision MedSpa . Backed by proven science and delivered in a comfortable, supportive environment, our Skinny Shots help you stay on track and feel confident all season long. Main Scoops

Saturday, August 16 | 6:30–8:30 PM | Rancho Simi Community Park
Get ready to turn your Saturday night into a rock ’n’ roll time machine. Led Zepagain, the world-famous Led Zeppelin tribute band praised by Jimmy Page himself, is bringing the thunder to Rancho Simi Community Park — and it won’t cost you a dime.
Pack a blanket, load up the picnic basket (or just follow your nose to the food vendors), and claim your spot on the grass for a night of Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir, and Stairway to Heaven under the summer sky. Whether you’re a lifelong Zeppelin fan or just here to rock, this end of summer concert will have you rockin’ and rollin’ days after!

Saturday, August 16 | 6:30–8:30 PM | Simi Valley Town Center
Dust off your saddle shoes and slick back that hair — Simi Valley is stepping back to the fabulous ’50s for one night only. Teen idol Jimmy Angel is hitting the stage at the Town Center for a free, high-energy Sock Hop that’ll have you dancing like you stepped out of your DeLorean into a scene from 1959!
Expect poodle skirts, rock ’n’ roll classics, and plenty of prizes for the best retro outfits. It’s family-friendly, nostalgia-packed, and guaranteed to get your toes tapping. Bring the kids, bring your best swing moves, and get ready to jitterbug under the summer sky.

The Weekly Crave
Old Susana Cafe

I know, I know, all you east siders are yelling at your screen. You don’t want me to tell the whole town about this classic home style beauty of a spot, I affectionatley call “Suzie’s.” While the cafe is only open breakfast and lunch hours each day, they do them both extremely well. Indoor and patio seating available, but be sure to get there early on the weekends, it fills up fast and parking can be a challenge, but well worth it! Big portions, good prices, nice staff and a down-home country feel, that sees first-time visitors becoming regulars.
My unsolicited advice. Work up an appetite with a cool morning exploration of Corriganville’s trails, then head up the road till you spot the covered wagon and pull into Old Susana Cafe to fill up on some great home cookin!
Click Here to see the Menu then head to “Suzie’s” to order up “The Wagon Wheel” Breakfast special. You can thank me later.
Bonus points if you can name the restaurant that was in this location before it became Old Susana Cafe. Anyone?

🏡 Simi’s Short-Term Rentals Live to Host Another Day
The Simi Valley City Council has decided not to ban short-term rentals (think Airbnb or VRBO) — at least for now. Instead, they’re waiting to see if a proposed state law, Senate Bill 346, passes later this year and sets new rules for the entire state. That means spots like the Poltergeist house on Roxbury Street will keep welcoming overnight guests while the city figures out how to tax them. Critics say STRs bring noise and party traffic to quiet neighborhoods, while supporters argue they’re too few in number to be a big problem. What do you think?
