Main Scoops

It’s Opening Weekend for the Tony-winning rock musical RENT! Which is hitting the stage at the iconic Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center this weekend, bringing all the passion, talent, and heart of Jonathan Larson’s iconic story to town. Here is your chance to experience the groundbreaking musical that redefined Broadway, without having to take a trip to The Empire State. Whether you know every lyric or you’re new to the East Village crew of artists chasing dreams and battling obstacles, I’m sure we all will leave singing. Tickets are limited, so grab yours now.

🎡 Simi Fall Days Carnival Returns

Step right up, because the carnival is back at the Simi Valley Town Center! For four days, the parking lot just north of the 118, transforms into a bright light playground packed with rides, games, live entertainment, and all the fair food your stomach can handle. Admission and parking are free, so it’s the perfect family outing for these warm nights, whether your idea of fun is braving the zipper, playing ring toss for that massive stuffed animal (you have to lug around the rest of the time), or just munching funnel cake under the lights. Bring the kids, bring your appetite, and let’s make some end-of-summer memories.

The Weekly Crave

It’s happening folks. Ready or not, it’s here! What exactly is here, you might ask? Well football season of course! What a perfect time to highlight one of my favorite spots to catch the touchdown action on Saturdays and Sundays. Cronies has it figured out: plenty of TVs all around so everyone has a view of the games, comfortable outdoor seating, ICE-cold beer in frosty schooners, family friendly environment and great food options. The Thirsty Sauce is tough to beat when it comes to chicken strips and wings. But my personal favorite and ‘go to’ has to be the “High Protein Salad!”
Pro tip: Get there early on Sundays — seats fill fast once the pregame show starts.
Check out the menu for yourself - and we’ll see you all at Cronies this football season!

Be Ready with VC Alert

When emergencies happen in Ventura County — from wildfires and severe weather to missing persons and public safety threats — minutes matter. That’s why the county uses VC Alert, a free, bilingual emergency notification system that delivers time-sensitive alerts right to your phone, text, or email.
Signing up is quick, and you can register multiple addresses (home, work, or a loved one’s). Alerts keep trying until they’re delivered, so you don’t miss critical updates. Stay informed and help keep our city safe.

Simi Fun Fact: When Simi Valley officially became a city in 1969, Labor Day was already celebrating its 75th year as a federal holiday. You could say while America’s workers had been “on the clock” for decades, Simi was just starting its very first shift as an incorporated city.

Your Thursday wake-up call for everything Simi — events, music, and more.
