Simi Scoop – July 10 – July 13 | Summer Concert Kickoff
Your guide to live music, local events, and where to be this weekend in Simi.

Good morning, Simi Valley!
Simi’s skies have cleared, the fireworks have faded, and somewhere out there, someone’s already mapping out every 7-Eleven in Simi. Why? Because July 11th is National Free Slurpee Day — and that’s a summer holiday in our book. (Yes, you still have to go to work.)
If you’re reading this, congrats — you’re officially in the know. Forward it to a friend who’s still asking, “What’s going on this weekend?” Because friends don’t let friends miss the Scoop.
In today’s Simi Scoop:
• 🍦 Scoops, sprinkles & a community ice cream party
• 🎸 Free concert in the Regal Center
• 🌮 Street tacos, margaritas & one of our favorite patios in town
• And everything else happening in Simi July 10–13
Let’s jump in.
Main Scoops:
🍦 Scoops, Sprinkles & All the Smiles

Saturday, July 12 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (doors at 1:30 PM) | Simi Valley Senior Center
How can we call ourselves the Simi Scoop if we don’t feature this one? Things we like during summer: free ice cream (check), live music (check), and neighbors catching up in the sunshine (the trifecta). This one’s for us!
The Stars and Stripes Ice Cream Social is back at the Simi Valley Senior Center, and it’s cool in more ways than one. Hosted by the Council On Aging, this annual community celebration is one of the sweetest (and coolest) traditions in town.
You’ll find:
• A full ice cream bar with all your favorite toppings
• Live musical entertainment and plenty of dancing
• A patriotic photo spot for those red, white, and blue selfies
Location: 3900 Avenida Simi. Questions? Call (805) 583-6363
🎸 Live Music, Local Flavor & Simi Summer Vibes

Saturday, July 12 | 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Simi Valley Civic Center Plaza aka The Regal Center
The fountain’s flowing, the stage is set, and the Civic Center food court is about to turn into a full-on summer block party.
Concerts at the Plaza are back, and the series kicks off with a splash as Rock The Boat brings their high-energy, harmony-filled show to Simi. This six-piece band is the real deal. From electric guitars and synths to perfectly layered harmonies, they recreate hits note for note.
But the night’s not just about the music. You’ll find:
• Food court favorites (I’m looking at you, Yogurtland)
• Games and prize giveaways
• Dancing, singing, and the kind of fun you can’t get on Netflix
It’s totally free and family-friendly. So, grab a chair, bring your crew, and meet us by the fountain. Let’s pack the Plaza!
🌮The Weekly Crave: El Capitan Mexican Grill and Bar

Tucked between the Simi-famous Green Acres Market and the Cultural Arts Center, El Capitan Fresh Mexican Grill & Seafood is a Simi Hidden Gem.
Whether you’re basking under the shade on their gorgeous patio, keeping cool in the comfy indoor booths, or settling into the breezy indoor/outdoor space (our personal fave), El Cap hits all the right notes for a chill summer hangout.
But let’s talk about the real stars:
The margaritas — strong, cold, and perfect for a summer afternoon.
The happy hour — packed with deals and flavor.
The potato tacos — a Simi Scoop fam fave.
And of course, owner Emma is the real MVP — always checking in with a smile and making sure every plate (and guest) is taken care of.
Pro tip: Head there on Taco Tuesday for a street taco party. To see the full menu of options CLICK HERE!
