Main Scoop

Fire up the flux capacitor because the Skateboarding Hall of Fame is turning back time — and rolling full speed into the future. This Saturday’s Skate to the Future event is unlike anything Simi has seen: a Back to the Future–themed celebration with live skateboarding demos, a cosplay contest, and even appearances from cast members of the classic film. Picture DeLoreans, hoverboards, and Doc Brown lookalikes all in the same plaza — it’s nostalgia meets action sports, wrapped up in a family-friendly community party.
Whether you’re a lifelong Marty McFly fan, a parent with kids itching to see something wild, or just someone who wants a front-row seat to a once-in-a-lifetime mashup of skate culture and Hollywood history, this is the spot. The organizers are promising plenty of photo-ops, chances to mingle with the stars, and energy that would make 1.21 gigawatts look tame.

Local Topping
Safe & Sound: Simi Valley—Still a California Standout
Rancho Santa Margarita may have reclaimed the title of California’s safest city for 2025, but #8 on the list is where we call home, Simi Valley quietly ranks among the state’s safest midsize communities, continuing to deliver the kind of neighborhood peace that makes this place home.
According to SafeWise’s latest rankings (based on FBI data), the top 20 safest cities all report fewer than 2.2 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and Simi Valley remains well within that zone of security. Although it doesn’t crack the top spots like Rancho Santa Margarita, Simi frequently lands in the mid-tier of the safest list—previously ranked around 27th, a testament to its enduring safety profile.
For families, that means shopping, school runs, park playdates, and neighborhood walks happen with confidence. From well-lit streets to proactive policing and strong community ties, Simi Valley continues to stand out, not just in Ventura County, but statewide.
