Main Scoop

Simi Valley is turning into a fiesta of culture and creativity on Saturday, Sept 27, as the Cultural Arts Center Foundation hosts the 2nd Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival. From 10 AM to 4 PM, The SVCAC will be buzzing with sights, sounds, and flavors that honor Latino and Indigenous traditions.

Explore an artisan marketplace with 65+ vendors offering handcrafted art, jewelry, and textiles. Enjoy live music and dance including mariachi and a live DJ. Savor authentic Latin cuisine and don’t miss the Guacamole Contest, where locals battle it out for bragging rights. Who will win the Guac ChampionCHIP (sorry, I couldn’t resist). Plus a curated art exhibit and film showcase with director talkbacks. History buffs can check out a special exhibit with the Simi Valley Historical Society, while families can join in at the Community Corner with hands-on crafts, murals, sugar skull art, and face painting.

From mariachi to murals to mouthwatering guac, this festival is a vibrant celebration of community, heritage, and creativity. Check out the stacked lineup on their website!

The Weekly Crave

🎃 Funnel Cake, Fried Oreos & Fall Fun

Last weekend at the Peace Concert (which was awesome btw), I split a massive funnel cake from the Delicious Food Truck with my son and let me tell you, it lived up to the name. 😋

Good news: you don’t have to wait for the next concert to try it. Delicious Food will be serving up treats all October long at the brand-new Four Seasons of Fun Adventurelands Pumpkin Patch at the Simi Valley Town Center (right where the old Macy’s Men’s department store was). Follow them on Facebook and see all of the delish treats they have to offer!

Funnel cakes, pumpkins, and Fall time in Simi, count us in. 🍂

 🎨 Painting Rocks, Spreading Hope

On Friday, Sept 26, the Simi Valley Youth Council is inviting residents of all ages to the Public Library for its annual Rock Painting Night. From 6:00–7:30 PM, neighbors can gather to decorate rocks with uplifting messages and images that will later be placed around town as bright reminders that hope and help are always close by.

The free event is part of the Youth Council’s 2025 Suicide Prevention campaign, highlighting the importance of connection and community support. All supplies will be provided, so just bring your creativity — and maybe a friend — for an evening that blends art, awareness, and encouragement.

Painting a small rock can carry a big message and have an even bigger impact.
