🎖️ The AV Wall Returns to Simi Valley — One Last Time

This Memorial Day weekend, Simi Valley will once again host the Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall, affectionately known as the AV Wall. This half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., bears the names of 58,281 U.S. service members who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. The wall will be on display at Rancho Tapo Community Park from Friday, May 23, at 3:00 PM through Tuesday, May 27, at 8:00 AM.

This visit marks the third and final time the AV Wall will be displayed in Simi Valley, as it is set to retire from travel at the end of 2025.

Full AV Wall Schedule of events can be found at:Vietnam Memorial Wall

The AV Wall will be accessible to the public 24 hours a day during its stay. It's a powerful opportunity to reflect, remember, and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

🚛 Fire Debris Trucks Stir Concerns in Simi Valley

Simi Valley residents have noticed a significant uptick in dump truck traffic along the 118 Freeway and near the Simi Valley Landfill. These trucks are transporting debris from the recent Palisades and Eaton fires as part of a massive cleanup effort led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Simi Valley Landfill has received a substantial share of this debris, contributing to the overall removal of over 1 million tons of material from the burn areas.

While officials assure that the debris is managed safely—with materials wetted down to minimize dust and trucks properly tarped—some community members express concerns about potential environmental and health impacts. Calls for increased air quality monitoring near the landfill have been made to ensure the safety of local residents.

The cleanup is expected to continue through the summer, with the Army Corps aiming to complete the operation ahead of schedule.
